On 29 November 2025, the Rt Revd Rob Saner-Haigh was enthroned as the 68th Bishop of Carlisle. Carlisle Cathedral was full, and the Diocese wanted everyone who couldn't be there, across Cumbria and beyond, to be able to follow the whole service.
Four cameras in a working cathedral
We planned the coverage with the Cathedral and the Diocese over the autumn, and helped them choose two new cameras for the day. We designed the setup and ran the stream with a crew made up largely of volunteers from the Cathedral and Diocese. On the day we ran four cameras: two on the cathedral floor operated by volunteers, a fixed wide shot from the organ loft, and a roaming camera on a gimbal with a professional operator, which could follow the procession and get close to the moments that mattered. Sound came from the Cathedral's own system, and the service went out live on the Diocese's YouTube channel and on to other platforms at the same time.
The final product was excellent and I am getting lots of good feedback and it is performing well on YouTube. The roaming camera was brilliant and made it so much more accessible.
Thanks for all the work on yesterday's event, it all went brilliantly.
